A traditional deck of tarot cards comprises 78 cards split between 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. Chances are you’ve seen one of them before. The first documented packs popped up in northern Italy in the 1400s; becoming a staple of divination and the occult ever since. Each card has an upright and reversed meaning, which allows for interpretation whichever way it’s drawn from the pack. With this in mind, I devised a list and sought out artists from around the world to combine football and the mystical art of tarot in a fun twist on the beautiful game. Some representations may be out of date given that the project started in 2022, but it should still make sense! As of now, the project is still ongoing, and when complete will have a limited run of physical decks made and sold with proceeds going to charity.
